RECENTLY RE-FORMULATED TO WORK EASIER
With unique properties this is a wonderful casting slip for those who want something different and special. Traditionally Bone China has been difficult to work with but very stable during the firing. By stable we mean that the box above was fired standing on it’s little feet without propping. The firing range however is much more narrow for this type of slip. The slip fires to a true cone 6 but if you are firing to a strong (6 o'clock witness cone) it will sag. A 3 o'clock witness cone will fire well. A cone five will mature but not have the translucency it is known for.
Available only in white (who would want to tint this), this porcelain has many of the same qualities of our other porcelains but can not be frozen. The bone ash that makes it true Bone China will be disturbed if frozen so protect this porcelain from massive weather changes. Thin with distilled water only. Please be aware that the bone in this slip has a tendency to make the slip turn a light gray in the bottle and create a slight smell. This will NOT hurt the porcelain at all and it will still fire a beautiful white. We have recently reformulated this slip and the graying is almost totally non-existent but can happen on occasion and the smell is not nearly as bad.
Perfect for Christmas ornaments, small boxes and other things that are traditionally thought of when mentioning Bone China. Enjoy! Available in Pints and Gallons in white only.
